Tom Thompson, owner of Hampden's Coffee Mill, understands Baltimoreans' need for great coffee. Besides having the best atmosphere and aroma of any specialty shop in the city, he stocks all types, depths, and flavors of java. The Coffee Mill carries the full line of Roasters on the Hill beans and organic beans. It carries a social conscience too, selling "fair trade" products (for which revenues go directly back to the grower) and "bird friendly" coffee, from a growing method in which native trees are planted in the coffee fields so that migratory birds can nest. The Mill also carries an abundance of teas, imported cheeses, and chocolates from around the world.
